According to the islamic definition of belief, He doesn’t believe in God, because how can you believe in God and be a disbeliever at the same time. Since it says Shaytan is a Kafir, which is the opposite of a mu’min. I know that some people say that Satan believes in God, but surely this means that knowing that God exists does not equate with belief because all disbelievers are supposed to deep down know God exist but they deny it and commit kuf…very interesting question. But I think the meat of the discussion comes from the discrepancy between the quranic concept of iman vs kufr and the statement possibly originating from Christian sources that the Devil believes in God.

Nur thank you for your comments and sources. Your clarification actually adds more emphasis to the point I was trying to make, which is that a believer is very different than someone who simply believes. Shaytan is aware of God’s existence, Shaytan knows that God exists with absolute certainty and it is precisely why he declared to Allah swt that he would do everything he can to mislead mankind. Proof that Shaytan is aware and believes in God’s existence:

[Iblees] said, “My Lord, because You have put me in error, I will surely make [disobedience] attractive to them on earth, and I will mislead them all (Quran 15:39).

So when I say belief I do not mean he submits to God’s will. And that is exactly what the article was mean’t to demonstrate.

There are verses in Quran show that Devil believes in God, but due to his arrogant he becomes one of the disbelievers (disobedient to Allah).
1)Suratul Baqarah, verse 34: “And (remember) when We said to the angels: Prostrate yourselves before Adam.”And they prostrated except Iblis (Satan), he refused and was proud and was one of the disbelievers (disobedient to Allah).
Before that the devil believes in Allah, but when he was asked to prostrate Adam, he refused.Then he becomes one of the disbelievers.

2)Allah S.W.T has already clarified about Shatan, the Devil as disbeliever in:-
i)Surahtul Baqarah; Verse 208:
O you who believe! Enter perfectly in Islam (by obeying all the rules and regulations of the Islamic religion) and follow not the footsteps of Shaitan (Shatan). Verily, he is to you a plain enemy”.

ii)Suratul Baqarah: Verse 168
O mankind! Eat of what which is lawful and good on the earth, and follow not the footsteps of Shaitan (Satan). Verily, he is to you an open enemy”.

iii)Suratul Baqarah: verse 268
“Shaitan (Satan) threatens you with poverty and orders you to commit Fahsha'(evil deeds, illegal sexual intercourse, sins); whereas Allah promises you Forgiveness from Himself and Bounty, and Allah is All-Sufficient for His creatures’ needs, All-Knower”.
