Bismillahir-Rahmanir-Raheem. Allahumma Salli wa Sallim 'alaa Sayyidina Muhammad.

Allah has already been bestowing His peace and blessings upon the Prophet, Allah bless Him and grant Him peace, since pre-eternity. The Prophet (Allah bless Him and greet Him with peace), does not need us to send blessings or peace upon Him; Allah suffices Him. The Prophet (Allah bless Him and grant Him peace) is not in need of anyone except His Lord.

We are ordered to ask for Allah's prayers and blessings upon Sayyidina Muhammad (SallAllahu ‘alaiHi wa Sallam) as an expression of our love for Him, which is in turn an indication of our deep faith. Allah commanded us to do so in order to reward us by praying upon us and blessing us in return if we follow His command.

Therefore, the command applies to all believers till the End of Time and beyond. The Door of Mercy and Divine Favour which comes from sending Salawaat upon the Prophet (Allah bless Him and grant Him perpetual peace) is open for every believer no matter at which time he lives in.

As is mentioned in a tradition, “every matter is between acceptance and rejection, except invocation of peace upon the Prophet”. Allah bless Him and grant Him peace.

Asalamualiakum Reed,

First, I want to say that Quran is not a historic book.It is not meant for one generation. It is sent to bring guidance for all times. It is living and breathing with knoweldge and it will be for the future generations. All the ayas have applied to the Muslims before us and apply to the Muslims today and will apply to the Muslims in the future inshAllah.

In the Quran Allah swt states,“And We have sent you O Muhammad not but as a mercy for all of humankind, jinn, and all that exists.” (Quran 21:107)

Our beloved Prophet (Peace and Blessings from Allah swt be upon him) is sent to all mankind as a mercy. Therefore, we should constantly be thanking Allah swt for this blessing and sending salawat to our beloved Prophet (Peace and Blessings from Allah swt be upon him.

I apologize in advance for any mistakes as they are from my part and anything good is from Allah swt.

Jazakullah Kair
