Nadwi. As a scholar in the secular sciences, it is so refreshing to read scholarship on this topic, from the Islamic sciences. Our Ummah’s progress has been held back a very great deal due to the present lack of women’s participation in sacred scholarship. We can do better than this, we owe it to our beloved, Muhammed sallalaahu alaihi wasallam, who taught us a better way. Time for the ummah to follow the messenger’s model and drop cultural norms that have crept into our societies, that, truth must be told, curtail the influence of women in the religious leadership, scholarship and polity.
