i live in Africa,most of the slaves taken from here where Muslims. cus the major religion in west africa is Islam.about 80 percent of the tribes in west africa are muslims,and about 99% of the slaves are from west africa.

In reply to Amatullah. Ah OK. I know about that one, but I don't think it was successful, they were defeated. It was a huge event though; if it had worked out it would have been up there with the Haitian Revolution.

In reply to Rachel. Rachel, from my understanding it was the slave rebellion in Brazil which is covered in the book: Slave Rebellion in Brazil: The Muslim Uprising of 1835 in Bahia by Jose Reis.

Which was the ‘only successful slave rebellion’ that the Muslims organised? I have an interest in slave rebellions and also in Muslim salves, so I’d be very interested to know more about this particular rebellion. As far as I know, the only successful one was what ended up being the Haitian Revolution, but I’m not sure that was organised by Muslims.
