I didn’t think it had to do with mazhab either since they are the Prophet’s sunnah, but I needed to be sure.. with reflection, I realised where I am in Asia, we are mostly taught just that particular du’a iftitah, whether as early learners in childhood or in adult solat classes. Until I read yr article & the prayer series, I didn’t know there were several that we could recite interchangeably. Alhamdulillah, what you have shared helps me realise it is important to strive to uphold the various sunnahs of our Prophet instead of just one. And which also helps with keeping our khushoo in prayer.

I’m not Shaf’i, but I don’t think there is a difference. If it is the du’a after takbirat al-ihram and before fatihah it is the same. There are usually a few du’as once can say. The ones I have here are the ones I am familiar with .

Alhamdulillah, Thank you for introducing these du’a from the Prophet’s sunnah!
And forgive me for my ignorance for I have a qn – how are these du’a different from du’a iftitah? I am from the Shafi’i school of thought & am taught to read du’a iftitah (“Allahu akbaru kabiraw walhamdulillahi kathiraw wasubhanallahi bukrataw wa-a-shilla…..”) after the takbiratul ihram & before Al-Fatiha.

My mind got distracted and I got away from the prayer. I tried so hard but I couldn’t focus on what I was doing [I’m one of those who have that kind of have issues similar on tests,homework,chores,ect.] I hope I can be a good Muslim, and by Allah’s will do all I can to achieve my dreams of being in Jannah one day. Inshallah I ask that all of my dreams can be fullfilled. Allah knows best.
