I am reminded of “Alhamdu lellah allazi la yuhmadu ala makrouhin siwah” (Thanks and gratitude to Allah the only One we give thanks to for tribulations and sorrows). For enduring life’s difficult moments with equanimity and patience becomes a source of Blessings and reward; hence becoming a source of thanks and gratitude.

SubhanAllah..SubhanAllah, she was so shakira she was able to hide her poverty and situation without even perhaps intending to do so….like it was her internal outlook on life. Imagine if I was able to do that in my daily life…May Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala make us of the shakireen, ameen

@JYB, I believe it was Ibn Taymiyyah rahimahullah who said that.

Jazaak Allahu khayran brother Omar for the eye-opening post.

I always remember the statement of the Prophet sal Allahu alayhi wa sallam when A’ishah asked him why he continues to pray at night until his feet would swell, even though he has been forgiven of his past and future sins…he said: a falaa akuna ‘abdan shakoora? Shall I not prove myself to be a thankful servant?

It’s a reminder that shukr is by action.

MashAllah amazing and so true. I’m reminded of a statement by one of the scholars, I can’t remember who exactly, who said that their is a Paradise in this world that we need to enter if we are to enter the Paradise of the next world- and that is contentment with Allah.

Sub7anAllah how so many of us are discontent and always want more and more, not looking at what we have. The Prophet (pbuh) said:

“Look at those people who have less than you and never look at those who have more grants than you, this will ensure that you will not depreciate Allah’s favors” (Muslim)
