I’m not naturally a people person. So I tended to basically give up on people who seemed unlikely to change. I don’t really relate to others very well. Then there was this person who was in the papers, that fell from grace (i mean, *really*), everyone derided her and she seemed beyond recall, but a group of people persisted in going to her and i thought, yeah, that’s gonna be a waste of time. but apparently eventually she returned to a muslim life. i remembered it, because i was wrong, and was surprised. and i thought, she sure was lucky that some people really really tried long after everyone else gave up on her. good thing some people have that kind of endurance.

today, some short years after, i myself understand how one can have that kind of ‘endurance’. I’m still not a people person, but i can feel empathy now, by God’s grace. because today and every day i have to choose not to give up on my husband. and i understand a little now, the point of view of our Prophet, that every person matters. every person matters.

My wife is Catholic. I pray to Allah everyday asking him to enable me to remain patient, to allow me to lead by example and to increase my knowledge so I can show my wife the beauty and truth of Islam.

Alhamdulillah the other day we were having a conversation, and I was able to make her contemplate some of the core Christian beliefs that are contradictory or illogical and that therefor could not have come from Allah for Allah is supremely wise.

I tried to explain that a religion that contains error, contradiction and false statements cannot be the religion of Allah for Allah does not make contradictions, mistakes or errors.

If there are any revert Sisters here who are of American/European origin may I ask what in your opinion would be the best approach in this delicate matter?

I always try to remember that every non-Muslim is a potential Muslim. I just have to look at myself as a reminder. Subhan Allah wa bihamdihi.
