[…] That’s what we need to be for others and allow others to be for us. Be a loving mentor. Be a supportive friend. Be an encouraging counselor. Be a shoulder to cry and lean on. Your awesome love for Islam and “Muslimness” will be communicated simply through your actions of being there for others in an uplifting, genuine way. If applicable, when someone is ready, that person will ask you about Islam and seek your help in becoming the best Muslim they can be, God willing. Or perhaps they’ll be more open to listening to your sincere, gentle advice on something you’re truly concerned about because of your love for them. This perspective does not mean we do not advise others when we’re concerned for them, it simply means we do so while withholding judgment and in a methodically wise way. […]

That's how important it is to be humble. Be modest and lower thy voice. Indeed, the harshest of voices is that is that of a mule. You can equally retaliate but if ye forgive and be patient that is of great resolution. Kind words and forgiveness. When truly humble no one can mess with you, not even you.
I think "Your Haraam" syndrome really befalls the sisters than the brothers. I have seen brothers with tattoos, piercings, "gangster wannabe" clothings, baggy pants (so baggy God forbid if you were get up from sajood before them, you have to witness their pink Abercrombie and Fitch underwear) and etc, yet most brothers praying don't really care too much calling him haraam. Maybe an uncle or older gentleman would say something. But for girls it is like WWIII if she prays without a headscarf. I mean don't get me wrong, some girls look like they just walked in from a club and accidentally found their way to the masjid, and they the other sisters let her hear it. But overall in the general atmosphere, men, in my opinion, from what I witness, don;t really care. The women, you know, on the chatty side do. Just check out Life of a Gori Niqabi blogspot.
