we were tested and are being tested as i lost my handsome son ghazi 20 year old in a car accident in dubai on 5th ramadan , after praying taravih with me in masjid he went out never to return back please pray that allah swt give him magfirat n jannatul firdose n give us the patience to bear this loss patiently accepting his decision which is very difficult.

Jazaki Allahu Khayran Sister Lobna for sharing your experience with us, and for this amazing and most timely article! I’m so glad that your son is doing okay, alhamdulillah!

I’m going through a difficult year and this Ramadan has also been more difficult than most, and caught myself thinking along the lines of “why are so many difficult tests occurring in Ramadan?”

Reading the article, I realized, ‘well, its not as if someone really close to me has died or nearly died!’ It really helped put things in perspective.

The checklist at the bottom was incredibly valuable, and helped me realize that Insha Allah, I may have learned and gained more this Ramadan than others:

“The one who is directly tested has the potential for several rewards during his trial:

For being patient
For their increased tawakkul (reliance) in Allah (swt)
For turning to Allah (swt) in du`a’
For asking others to turn to Allah (swt) to make dua for them
For being humbled by the test and realizing that Allah (swt) is the Ultimate Planner
For reflecting on Allah’s (swt) qualities and His attributes
If there is a loss involved, for remembering how much Allah (swt) has blessed him with so many other things in this life
If there was imminent loss and health/wealth was saved, for thanking Allah (swt) for His mercy and blessing in being saved from that loss
For seeing others who have a tougher test, and praying for them and at the same time being thankful for not being tested as strongly
For doing extra good deeds in gratitude for Allah’s (swt) mercy during the test.”

Once again, Jazaki Allahu Khayran and I wish you and all Muslims the very best for the last day or two of Ramadan and Eid Mubarak!

Alhamdulillah. thanks so much for the sharing. It made me cry. A lot of tests given by Allah swt for me for the last past years including the holy month of Ramadhan. Current financial issues, not getting a fixed income, etc But Alhamdulillah that Allah has given me good health. I believe in all the rewards that you have shared. Istiqamah in all the ibadah and perform sincerely. Wallahuallam

Thank you so much for this article. Jzkk.
I am a student and I currently have to repeat my exams (2 out of 3 papers). The days are long and I am alone in a foreign land it it just makes coping and dealing with the fact that I have to repeat 2 papers so much worse. I’ve been doing nothing but resenting that fact and resenting myself for getting into this situation, but Subhanallah, perhaps Allah is giving me a chance to learn from this. I should seek His help and know that there is no success without His consent.
Thank you for making me realise that this isn’t just something bad that happened to me, but this is Allah’s way of telling me get back on His track, Inshaallah.
