Salaam!This was marvelous masha Allah and presented at a level anyone could understand. I saw this very thing happen in my own life. We really need tawakkal. Not just lip service about depending on Allah but really, truly believing that if you strive in Allah’s cause, the tests He hands you will eventually lead you to greater baraka and blessings in your life.

In reply to Hammad. What I understand is, just like what Jinan explain in the article, for the things that out of our control, we just accept it with beautiful patience. But for the things or situations that within our control then we have to strive for it. Wallahu a'lam bish-shawab

Wa iyyakum. I think the last two paragraphs address that. You will not be asked about what you cannot control; so Jacob (as) really had nothing to do when his son was taken away. And sometimes that happens to us. Yusuf (as) was active; he interpreted the dreams of the two jailmates and told them to mention him to his Lord.

The last paragraph says to do what what you can; sometimes it entails waiting but sometimes it entails doing:
“Be like Yusuf (as), and be recognized as being of those who do good: If you make a mistake, apologize, and fix it if you can. If you cannot, then let it go, and pray for the person you hurt. If your situation calls for patience, then have beautiful patience like his father Ya’coob (as), who had nothing to do but wait when he lost his sons. If it calls for striving, then do that. Give it your all, until you cannot think of anything else to do. But do not make excuses for yourself.”

JazakAllah… great article BUT isn’t this an argument for passivity? As Jacob AS did nothing to petition for his son but just sat waiting for him. Yusuf AS did not actively battle the injustice but calmly accepted it…. so does that mean we should also not struggle and accept things? What would be the prophetic sunnah to follow???? To struggle hard or to accept things happily and patiently!!!
