رَبِّ أَوْزِعْنِي أَنْ أَشْكُرَ نِعْمَتَكَ الَّتِي أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيَّ وَعَلَىٰ وَالِدَيَّ

“Rabbi awzi’ni an ashkura ni’mata-ka-llati an’amta ‘alayaa wa ‘ala walidayya”

and there will be no escape for those who are heartless and who spreads corruption on land killing innocents. TO Allah will be their returne where tehre wil be no injustice done. He will be the judge.

Sometimes it is easy to feel completely helpless when hearing about the horrific situation our brothers and sisters are going through. I was in tears as I read this article and felt so much sadness and despair, as I think anyone would.

However, maybe one of the best things we can do is to turn that sad energy into action. Making sincere duaa that Allah swt alleviate the situation, praying and supplicating during our prayers,
and as suggested, doing whatever we can, be it donating money, time or raising awareness about the situation.

At the risk of being long-winded, I just want to add that we also must reflect on our own situation when reminded of situations like the ones in this article. Sometimes we get so caught up in our own problems that we forget that others are in much worse situations than we are.

May Allah swt ease the suffering of our brothers and sisters in Syria and everywhere, shower them with His Mercy and give victory to those who patiently persevere in His cause.

One thing you can do is go to the islamic relief website and donate for the syrian humanitarian cause.

I hurt so much. Are we really so powerless as American Muslims that we can do or say nothing about Syria – where the government says we have no ‘interests?’ I have done nothing. What can I do? Somebody tell me please.
