Nice article maashaAllah. I also find it very difficult to focus and not rush my prayers, particularly when praying at work or with my 2 yr old in the room! I will try to implement some of your suggestions to help me, God willing. In particular I will remember the hadith about facing Allah, it really moved me, and also number 4 on the list – I find this helpful and need to do it more.

Scholars of Hijaz have advised that one can make Du’a after finishing the prayer, but one is advised not to do that perpetually since it is not reported from the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam). There could be a difference of opinion in this though…
