Assalam'alaykum

Jazakallah for such a beautiful article n such practical tips! Its vital that we start instilling the greatness and beauty of Ramadan in our children as soon as soon as practically possible. Our 2year old daughter 'helps' out with Iftar preps, and sits with us for Iftar every day. She also has a little prayer rug and burka so she keeps herself busy while I read salaah. We do not force her - at times she'll wander around and do something else and we let her..I make dua that we can help her become a devoted child of Islam Inshallah and I think its little things we do as parents and our own enthusiasm that reflect on our children.
Jazakallah for this wonderful website and its dedicated writers who help us with sound advice and endless reminders..

Thank you for this fantastic post. Although I do not have children of my own, Insha'Allah in a few years I will. I have always been weary as to how I would raise my child to grow up to be good practising Muslims who believe in humanity and good deeds. You have raised some great examples of how that can be done in Ramadan and throughout the year. Thank you so very much and may Allah bless your efforts :)

Something that I noticed recently. A kid came whispering something to his mum at a majlis. He informed that there was a charity box. The mum eagerly gave something for him to put it in. All this happened as if it was a lil practice of theirs. It was surprising, for the boy was only 5.

Allah bless their family and also all ours.

Assalamu alaikum

Wonderful article, and certainly something to think about! There are many ways to instill a sense of "taqwa" in children, and I think a kind, merciful approach instilled by setting fun traditions is certainly the way to go! Jazak'allah khair Munira for the great article! :)

Mashallah im soooo glad you brought up this topic i wqs realizing yesterday tht spme parents are focusing too much on just the not eating n drinking part in Ramadan when it is soooo much more than that- increasing taqwa. Kids should be taught the different aspects of ramadan earlier on or the fasting justt bcomes a mere ritual when they get older.

mashallah you have amazing advice for children of all ages. I like esp. the concept you put across about children finding ownership in their goals rather than being ordered to sacrifice by a parent.
