Dear Sister Maria,
A thought provoking piece and a clearly written wonderful article , as much as I read your writing I found my self in zainab place although I am 28 years old now probably my heart is no more tender now but still I disturbed, and feel distress when my parents fight and hold grudges against each other. Allhamdulillah Allah Subhwanutallah blessed me with fine and best mind but I am still struggling in my life like in terms of education career and I have a fear in my heart about marriage and you know what parents not even try to think about the consequences which their children face just because of their unreasonable attitude towards each other my parents are now in a age that I don’t want to rmake them realize about how awful their behavior is and how badly I am getting affecting from it and yes some of the weakness I have in my personality which you mentioned in your article like I need emotional company some time but unable to discuss , feel depressed and vulnerable in fact sometimes I feel uncertain about my abilities I try to make them my parents happy give them comfort but some how they don’t understand my emotional need remember me in your prayers if possible

Brother SaeedN this article has been written in a hope to make parents realise the impact that domestic violence and/or unkind behaviour leaves on a tender heart. What you have suggested in your comments is yet another topic that is on my list of articles, inshaAllah. Where I will try to help such children/adults overcome their dark past in order to appreciate life, bi ithn Allah (by the will of Allah).

If only my parents knew the depth at which our hearts are wounded due to their lack of understanding the gravity of parenthood. Those memories never stop from haunting me and my siblings even though today we ourselves have become parents. 🙁

While I was reading I was looking forward to a solution that would be suggested to those victims who have now grown up to teenagers or adults themselves. As a child and till now i am a victim of an unhappy marriage of my parents. They never separated and gave us the most trying of times.

To be patient with them for the horror they have so callously led us to live,wish someone would instill in us hope and enough reminder of love of Allah to push us to be inheritors of jannatul firdaus
