Asalam alikum sr Ambereen. Sorry for the late reply.

What I wish people would know about bullying is that it is simply impossible to stop. Much can be done to improve the problem, but it is inevitable; some kids will just go through it. I feel there is more of an approach on how to keep kids hidden or away from bullying rather than how to teach them to grow stronger because of it.

I would like to see that. Parent or an adult who kids can confide in are also important.

Firstly, I am very sorry for the bullying you experienced at such a young age. I would also like to thank you for sharing your story with us and Allhamdullilah, I am glad to see that you are bringing awareness to such an important subject.

I would like to ask you, Brother Mohammad and anyone on this site reading, if you were to attend an anti-bullying program today, what would you like to see presented, how it would be shown, and what you wish people knew about bullying. I am in the process of creating an anti-bullying program for Muslim youth and I would like to tie it in with Islamic beliefs and tailoring it specifically to American Muslim youth. Any help from anyone would be much appreciated and accepted. May Allah (swt) make it easier for all of us to overcome our struggles, small or large InshAllah.

I really felt your words. I too went through tough times during my teenage years. Acceptance is one of the things we crave the most at that age. I am so glad you turned to Allah at that time, because many non Muslim adolescents turn to selfself destruction instead (drugs, gangs, cults, cutting, suicide, etc.). 🙁 It shouldn’t be that way. We need to be more friendly to our youth and become their role models inshaAllah!!

I appreciate what this person felt. I too have felt Allah Subhanallah’s mercy during my difficult times. In solace I have felt His warmth, and His closeness, His love even before I realized I needed it. Allah is so amazing, He’s warm and kind, generous and giving, full of mercy. I thank Allah for Allah. He is perfect, one and only supreme and his glory shines ever more each day. Allahu Akbar. We learn from our experiences and my own childhood was completely rotten. I felt rejected and was so depressed I wanted to hurt myself from the age of 6. But Alhamduallah, Allah Subahallah had a plan and I converted to Islam in my early twenties. My history helps me to connect and empathize with the downtrodden and I wouldn’t want it any other way. Allahu Akbar.
