Beautiful article, It is indeed an epidemic, if not pandemic. Almost every friend of mine (beautiful girls between 18-24) years old hopes to get married.

However, I believe we need to come up with some practical solutions to fight this as a community. For example, many women I know have married their husbands via a friend who knows him. A friend has told them there is a guy like ‘this and this’ with the following degree etc. If she’s pleased with the characteristics, they proceed to the next stage.

The more people have relations and know others, it’s more likely they hear of someone potentially suitable.

As-Salaam 3alaykum wa ra7matullahi wa barakatuhu,

it is not the question of getting married early or young. You can marry early if you are mature and able to deal with the challenges of marriage. You can marry late for some other reasons – u have been sick for a long time – busy with time-intensive study – busy with working abroad in projects- did not find the right partner..there could be many reasons.
Marriage is a blessing from Allah. Marriage is like life – a challenge. You will be tested in it.Not to marry does not mean that you will not be tested in belief 😉

Imam al-Ghazali r.a. wrote a book on pros and cons for marriage in one of his books “Ihya ulum ad-din”; Book of Marriage. If you are interested in it- just read it..

Thank you for the post and raising the important issue about marriage . I think it is important to teach Muslim youh ( and other youths for that matter) about healthy sexuality and that , as you pointed out , should be introduced at school level . It might also be nice to also warm.them about unhealthy forms of sexuality that is out there , especially in the form of internet pornography ( check candeocan.com for info )which is e having a very negative impact on society as a whole .

Excellent article. We muslims living in nigeria are also facing this problems. The muslim brothers end up marrying the christain ladies. Who will then marry we the muslim ladies? That is why more muslim girls get married to christain men. May Allah guide us aright
