Lovely article and so true that there are struggles associated with wearing hijab and niqab in the west, but the reward and sense of tranquility that they bring make it worth it more than 100 times over! When I started wearing it, yes I did find it hot but the protection that it brings more than makes up for any slight discomfort. Alhamdulillah! I have always found it very easy to ignore the stares that I get, though I honestly feel that some of the looks from non-Muslim women are actually because they are rather envious of my simple dress.

It’s funny how I like to compare my relationship with hijab to marriage (I’m not married tho. Lol). It is something beautiful, close, intimate, and at the same time, it comes with its own share of hardship, like any other act of worship.

Alhamdulillah I’ve also learned with time that there will always be openents, and I can relate to your article. Over the years as you said, you stop worrying about people’s opinion, and you just move on. That is true freedom. May Allah helps us refresh our inention often and allow us to wear it until we breathe our last, ameen ♥ Salaam 🙂
